Degree Course:

The B.A.M.S. degree course is of 5 years and 6 months duration. The course is divided in to two parts.

Main course of 4 years and 6 months.
Clinical course/internship of 1 year.

The main course is partitioned in to 4 phases. The first 3 phases are of 1 year duration & last phase is of 1 year 6 months duration.

Compulsory: Rotatory internship of 1 year.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:

Government in their letter No. HFW 124 RGU Bangalore, dated 28-06-2017, have directed KEA to conduct Common Counselling for admission to UG Medical and Dental courses for all Government, Private (Including Minority), NRI and Others seats in the State of Karnataka
As per the directions of the Government, KEA is holding counselling for admissions to Medical and Dental courses for the year 2024-25. The candidates who will score more than or equal to the prescribed minimum score in UGNEET-2024 will be eligible for admission to UG Medical and Dental and Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy degree courses for the year 2024-25.
Further, as per the letter dated 13-07-2023 of Karnataka AYUSH Department, the seat matrix for 85% of seats available for admission in Government and Government Aided Institutions (except 15% All India Quota) and in Private Institutions all seats (including State Quota, All India Quota and Management / NRI quota) available for UG courses in Private Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy Colleges of Karnataka state shall be allotted through KEA. UGNEET-2024 eligible candidates can also register online for Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy seats. However, non-Karnataka candidates are eligible only for the notified seats.
Non-Karnataka candidates will not be eligible for reservation. Hence, in the UGNEET-2024 examination, if they score the required minimum 50th percentile or above, fixed for ‘GENERAL (UR)’ category as per the qualifying criteria, then only they will be eligible to register for admissions through KEA or for any other seats in the State of Karnataka. Please note that SC/ST/OBC eligibility criteria are applicable to Karnataka SC/ST/OBC candidates only.
Mere registering does not confer any right on the candidate unless the candidate fulfils eligibility conditions / submission of certificates / completes the document verification.
Before registering through online for admission to Medical / Dental / AYUSH courses in the state of Karnataka, applicants should know the eligibility criteria for admission to these courses.

Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 50% of Marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects. (*40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates) *Other eligibility criteria and conditions as mentioned in UGNEET-2024 Information Bulletin.

* The SC / ST/Category-I / OBC eligibility criteria is applicable to Karnataka candidates who are eligible to claim Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k), (l) and (o) and the same is not applicable to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i), (m) and (n) i.e., Eligibility Clauses to claim Government Seats.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

Ayurveda education is aimed at producing graduates of profound scholarship having deep basis of ayurveda with scientific knowledge in accordance with Ayurvedic fundamentals with extensive practical training who should be able and efficient academicians, research fellows, physicians, and surgeons fully competent to serve in the medical and health services of the country.
